Hard for me to pick a favorite song so far. I really enjoy the reggae-esque songs like Knocking at Your Door, Turn it Up Slow, and Are you for Real.
I know a lot of people wish OAR would bring their old sound back but that (sadly) has been long gone since 2008 when they released All Sides. I completely understand when people say they don’t like the new “cleaner” sound of the band.
We should be happy that they still have songs that reflect their older songs, but honestly I think they’re bored with that sound and playing style. Every band/artist changes their sound as they evolve and I’m pretty happy that there’s still some songs that resemble their old ones slightly.
Nantucket is Gone is a wonderful song. It’s been stuck in my head all day. Along with Free and OH MY these are all songs that represent how the band has changed their sound since 2014. You may not like their “new sound” but they’re still able to make incredibly catchy uplifting songs (by their way their “new” sound has been going on for longer than their “old” sound has at this point.).
I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on this. What’s your favorite song from the album or do just wish they would go back to their old sound?/have given up on the band.
(By the way they’re still awesome in concert, if not better than ever. I saw them very recently and they’re still experimenting with new grooves for songs they released 5 years ago!)
