Why do a lot of "Happy Hardcore" songs sound like gabber/hardcore? What happened to the real happy hardcore? I noticed that a lot of songs here that are labeled as "happy hardcore" are actually gabber/hardcore songs. For example "Sonicdriver - In Your Arms Tonight" sounds like pure hardcore/gabber, yet it is labeled as "happy hardcore". There is no way that song is "happy hardcore". Dune - Hardcore Vibes also sounds more like gabber/hardcore rather than "happy hardcore". Even most new "happy hardcore" songs sound exactly like any other modern hardcore song. ​ Yet songs like: D:Tecctiv M ‎– New York Rio Tokyo [When I] (https://www.discogs.com/DTecctiv-M-New-York-Rio-Tokyo-When-I/release/1448756), Princess Of Java ‎– Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (https://www.discogs.com/Princess-Of-Java-Smoke-Gets-In-Your-Eyes/master/288450), T.O.F. The Original Flyguy Featuring Herbie - Doin It Again (Original Mix) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XylvpJluoMQ), or Megameister ‎– Bruder Jakob (https://www.discogs.com/Megameister-Bruder-Jakob-Brother-Jacob-Frere-Jacques/release/4671114) sound like real happy hardcore. All these songs have a much softer and less gabber-like base drum, and have an uplifting/cheery theme. ​ So what happened to real happy hardcore? Why is modern "happy hardcore" labeled as "happy hardcore", when it is obviously just hardcore?
