Lay-off news just received, what IT direction do I pursue. I guess this will be somewhat of a mini rant. I just got the news that I’ll be laid off in 10 months and I have no idea what avenue to pursue. My career has been help desk for 2 years. Network operations admin for 2 years and problem manager/IT generalist 1 year now. I’m worried because I have been kind of all over and I am. I’m not sure what to pursue or follow. When I was a NOC admin I would work typical network outages and work with vendors to troubleshoot the outages or our on site personal with rebooting servers/routers. In my current role I would work tickets to creating problem tickets and escalating them and even created meetings with multiple teams to resolve trending issues and delegate work to teams. It could be just me overreacting to the news of the lay-off but my mind is a mess and was hoping I could get help from a fellow community. Also any stories or uplifting words I’ll take on How anyone has handled IT layoffs.
